The HP ENVY 6130e provides the everyday functions most homes need without taking up too much desk space. It can print homework, forms, recipes, correspondence, colour projects and borderless photos, while the built-in flatbed scanner handles occasional scanning and copying.

Dual-band Wi-Fi makes it easy to share the printer between family members or people working and studying from home. You can print from compatible Windows and Mac computers, Chromebooks, Apple devices and Android devices. A USB connection is also available if you prefer to connect the printer directly to a computer.

Automatic duplex printing turns the paper over for you when printing on both sides. Combined with the 100-sheet input tray, this makes the ENVY 6130e more practical for regular document printing than many basic entry-level printers.

This model is best suited to light-to-moderate use. HP recommends printing between 100 and 400 pages per month. It does not include an automatic document feeder, so documents must be scanned or copied one page at a time on the flatbed.

Print, Scan and Copy:

Everyday document and colour printing

Print black-and-white documents at up to 10 pages per minute and colour pages at up to 7 pages per minute using the standard ISO measurement. Draft speeds reach up to 20 pages per minute in black and 17 pages per minute in colour.

Black print resolution reaches up to 1200 x 1200 rendered dpi when printing from a computer. Colour resolution reaches up to 4800 x 1200 optimised dpi when using selected HP photo paper and a suitable source file.

Borderless photos and creative projects

Borderless printing is supported up to 216 x 305mm. This makes the printer useful for family photos, cards, school projects and other creative printing, as well as standard A4 documents.

Flatbed scanning

The built-in flatbed scanner handles documents and photos up to 216 x 297mm. Optical scan resolution is up to 1200 dpi. Supported scan formats include JPG, PDF, PNG, TIF and HEIF.

Colour and black-and-white copying

Make up to 99 copies at a time. Copy speeds reach up to 8 copies per minute in black and 3.5 copies per minute in colour. Reduction and enlargement settings are available through the HP app.

Wireless and Mobile Printing:

The HP ENVY 6130e has built-in dual-band Wi-Fi supporting both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks. Mobile-printing options include the HP app, Apple AirPrint, Mopria Print Service, the HP Print Service Plugin for Android and ChromeOS printing.

The HP app, previously known as HP Smart, can help you set up and manage the printer, check ink levels, print files and photos, and scan documents from a compatible phone, tablet or computer. Internet access is required to download the app and use online or cloud-based features. Some services, including HP+ and HP Instant Ink, also require an HP account.

A Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port is provided for a direct connection to a computer. A USB printer cable is not included and must be purchased separately if required.

Automatic Two-Sided Printing:

Automatic duplex printing lets the ENVY 6130e print on both sides of compatible paper without you having to turn the pages over manually. This saves time and can reduce the amount of paper used for assignments, reports and other multi-page documents.

Paper Handling:

The main input tray holds up to 100 sheets of plain paper, while the output tray holds up to 25 sheets. The printer supports A4, A5, A6, B5, 10 x 15cm photo paper, DL envelopes, C6 envelopes and supported custom sizes.

Compatible media include plain and recycled paper, photo paper, presentation paper, brochure paper, cards and envelopes.

HP 68 Printer Ink Cartridges:

The HP ENVY 6130e uses two printer ink cartridges: one black cartridge and one combined tri-colour cartridge containing cyan, magenta and yellow inks.

• HP 68 Tri-colour Original Ink Cartridge – 7FP20TA: approximately 120 pages
• HP 68e EvoMore Black Original Ink Cartridge – 7FP22TA: approximately 320 pages

The HP 68e black cartridge provides roughly twice the page yield of the standard HP 68 black cartridge. HP does not list a corresponding higher-yield tri-colour cartridge for this New Zealand model.

Page yields are estimates based on standard testing. Actual cartridge life varies according to what you print, the print settings used, cleaning cycles and other factors.

Important HP+ Information:

During setup, you may be offered the option to activate HP+. HP+ is not a paid subscription, and you can choose to skip it.

Activating HP+ requires an HP account, an ongoing internet connection and the exclusive use of Original HP ink cartridges for the life of the printer. Once activated, HP+ remains embedded in the printer. If you plan to use compatible, refilled or remanufactured ink cartridges, do not activate HP+ during setup.

HP Instant Ink Is Optional:

The HP ENVY 6130e is eligible for HP Instant Ink, HP’s monthly printer ink subscription service. Enrolling in Instant Ink is optional and is not required to use the printer.

HP may offer a promotional Instant Ink trial when the printer is set up. Offers and eligibility can change. Enrolment requires an eligible printer, an internet connection, an email address, an HP account and a valid payment method. Monthly subscription charges apply after any free trial unless the service is cancelled.

If an Instant Ink subscription is cancelled, the subscription cartridges stop working at the end of the current billing period. Standard replacement HP 68 cartridges can then be installed.

Dynamic Security:

This printer uses HP dynamic security. It is designed to work with cartridges containing new or reused HP electronic circuitry and may block cartridges that use modified or non-HP circuitry.

Periodic firmware updates may change which third-party cartridges work with the printer. Cartridges using reused HP circuitry may enable the use of reused, remanufactured or refilled cartridges when HP+ has not been activated, but future compatibility cannot be guaranteed.

Who Is This Printer Best Suited To?

The HP ENVY 6130e is a good choice for families, students and people working from home who need affordable colour printing, occasional scanning and copying, and automatic double-sided printing.

It is best suited to light-to-moderate printing rather than a busy office. Consider a different model if you regularly scan stacks of documents, need wired Ethernet networking, want separate cartridges for each colour or print large volumes each month.
