Brand: Canon
Manufacturer’s Code: GX2060
Product Details: Compact and with low running costs, Canon’s MAXIFY GX2060 will suit small businesses with small budgets and small offices. What’s more, it provides features that its more expensive sibling, the GX3060 does not. These include the ability to send and receive faxes (the GX2060 is a 4-in-1), automatic double-sided printing, and the inclusion of an automatic document feeder (ADF) for scanning multiple pages.
Whereas the GX3060 is designed for heftier workloads, the recommended monthly print volume for the GX2060 is up to 3,300 pages (with a maximum of 27,000 pages per month). It has a single 250-sheet paper tray (no rear tray) and it ships with four high-yield GI-55 ink bottles (pigment black, cyan, magenta, and yellow), each manufacturer-rated to print up to 3,000 pages (or as many as 4,500 pages in Economy Mode).
As is the case with all ink tank printers, you pay more upfront for the GX2060 itself but save on ink refills over the lifetime of your printer. That’s the opposite of what has long been the prevailing model in selling inkjet printers, where your first batch of replacement ink cartridges can cost you more than you paid for your printer.
While there’s a lot to like about the GX2060, it should be said that, with a speed of 15 images per minute (ipm) for monochrome printing and 10 ipm in colour, this is not a fast printer. With a maximum print resolution of up to 600 x 1200 dpi, it handles general business documents with ease but while it produces sharp text and good-quality graphics, it struggles with halftone images. Those caveats aside, if you don’t do enough printing to warrant buying the GX3060 or GX4060 instead, this is a highly recommended multifunction printer for small businesses or home offices that simply want reliable document printing at a low cost.
