Product Details: A step up from the entry-level TS3160 and TS3460, the Canon PIXMA TS5360 is a more versatile and capable photo printer sold at a price that is still easy on the pocket. This multifunction printer (it also copies and scans) produces better-looking photo prints. It also includes an automatic document feeder (ADF), which you’ll need if you often scan or copy multipage documents.
The Canon PIXMA TS5360 is similar in design to the TS3160, with a small footprint, a front-mounted control panel, and a rear-mounted paper output. At W 403 x D 315 x H 148 mm, it will take up less space on your desk than most photo printers.
You can connect your computer directly to the printer via USB 2.0, while smartphones and other mobile devices can use Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0 LE (Low Energy), or connect via wireless (2.4 GHz only). To print from a mobile device, you can use the Canon Print app, Apple AirPrint, or Mopria Print Services. You can also print directly from a digital camera using WLAN PictBridge.
The printer can handle various paper sizes and weights, from 64 gsm plain paper to 300 gsm photo paper. It has a rear tray that can hold up to 20 sheets of photo paper or 100 sheets of plain paper, and a front cassette that can hold up to 100 sheets of plain paper.
When the time comes for more ink, you need two cartridges only: PG660 (standard or high-yield) black pigment ink and CL661 (standard or high-yield) three-colour ink. While the high-yield XL ink is the more economical option, this is still an expensive printer to run.
For all this printer’s many positives, including the ability to print A4-size borderless photos, automatic double-sided printing, and a two-way paper feed, this is a printer best suited to casual rather than everyday use. While you can expect good print quality (especially for photos), print speeds are merely tolerable, and the amount you pay for ink refills makes the TS5360 an expensive proposition for anything but light to moderate use. In short, what looks like a bargain price for this printer is only a bargain if you don’t plan to print or copy much or often. If that’s the case, then this basic All-in-One will do the job, and do it quite well.
