Product Details: Brother Compatible DR2530 Imaging Drum Unit. Third-party manufactured to provide outstanding print quality at a more economical cost per page.
You’ll know when you need to change your printer’s drum unit. Your prints won’t look as good as they used to, even with a new toner cartridge. You might see blurred or faded images and text, black or coloured spots, smeared toner, or thin vertical lines on your pages. Typically, you need to replace the printer drum unit after you have replaced 3-4 toner cartridges.
Not all laser printers require a separate drum unit — some use toner cartridges that include a built-in drum. If you have a mono printer that uses separate drum units, you’ll only need one drum. For a colour laser printer, you may need a single drum (for all four colours), or four individual drums (one for each colour).

Warranty
Using non-genuine consumables may void your printer’s warranty. To avoid potential issues, we recommend waiting until your printer’s warranty period has expired before using compatible products.
Printer Firmware Updates
Printer manufacturers make significant profits from genuine cartridges. Consequently, printer manufacturers (notably Canon and HP) release automatic firmware updates designed to block the use of compatible inks and toners by preventing printers from recognising non-genuine cartridges.
This practice is often criticised as unfair since it limits consumer choice. Imagine buying a car and being told you can only use one specific brand of fuel—this is a similar situation.
The good news is that manufacturers of the compatible cartridges we sell quickly respond to these updates. They update their cartridge chips to ensure compatibility with the latest firmware, so you can continue using compatible cartridges without any problems.
TIP – How to Stay Compatible
To prevent future firmware updates from affecting the compatible cartridges you’ve already purchased, we strongly recommend disabling automatic firmware updates on your printer.
Firmware update settings are typically located in the “Settings” or “Maintenance” menu of your printer. For printer-specific instructions:
- Check your user manual, or
- Search online for your printer model along with “turn off auto updates.”
In most cases, disabling updates is quick and simple.
