    Product Details:

What do you need in a portable colour printer? You want it to be light and small, of course, but what about a compact printer that also lets you copy and scan?

Meet the HP OfficeJet 250 Mobile All-in-One printer. It weighs 3.06 kg (2.96kg without the battery) and measures W 380 x D 198 x H 91mm. Despite its small size, the printer outputs prints with sharp text and vibrant colours at up to 4800 x 1200 dpi, and its print speed (up to 10 pages per minute) is respectable for a portable printer. You can even print borderless photos (up to 5 x 7 in, 127 x 177 mm).

The HP OfficeJet 250 Mobile Printer offers multiple connectivity options, such as wireless printing, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi Direct, and a USB port, allowing easy printing from smartphones, tablets, and other devices. It comes with a 10-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF) and includes a colour LCD touchscreen for easy navigation. Scan and copy resolution is a maximum of 600 dpi.

Take it with you in a backpack or briefcase, and keep printing wherever you go thanks to its long-lasting battery (you can print up to 500 pages per charge). Once you’re out of juice, the battery takes about 90 minutes to recharge, using HP Fast Charge.

The OfficeJet 250 Mobile uses standard-yield HP 62 and high-yield HP 62XL ink cartridges. The high-yield inks are manufacturer-rated to have a page yield of 600 pages in black and 415 pages in colour. Cheaper third-party compatible and remanufactured HP 62 and HP 62XL cartridges are also available.

Granted, this may not be the multifunction printer for you if you’re printing massive documents, and a lot of them. The recommended monthly print volume is just 100-300 pages (with a maximum of 500 pages per month). And you don’t get automatic double-sided (duplex) printing — to print on both sides you have to do so manually, removing and turning over the pages once each side is completed. But if your needs are more modest and all you want is a reliable all-in-one portable colour printer that can go the distance, then the HP OfficeJet 250 is a great choice.

    Features:

    • Compact and reliable colour portable All-in-One printer — folds up to fit in your backpack or briefcase
    • Quick setup — Start printing in no time with HP Auto Wireless Connect
    • Print, scan and copy from your laptop or mobile devices wirelessly, even when there’s no network, using Wi-Fi Direct
    • High page yields and low operating costs for a portable printer
    • Long-lasting battery recharges in just 90 minutes using HP Fast Charge
    • Fast printing speeds: Up to 10 pages per minute (mono) and 7 pages per minute (colour)
    • Produces crisp, vibrant high-quality documents and photos at a maximum resolution of 4800 x 1200 dpi
    • Includes a 10-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF)
    • No automatic double-sided (duplex) printing but printer software supports manual double-sided printing
    • Maximum monthly duty cycle of 500 pages; recommended monthly volume of 100-300 pages

    Things to Consider with Compatibles

If you’re considering using compatible cartridges, here are some key points to keep in mind:

    Warranty

Using compatible cartridges does not automatically void your printer’s warranty. Under NZ law, a manufacturer generally cannot deny a warranty claim unless the non-genuine consumable caused the fault. For peace of mind, we stand by our products: if a cartridge supplied by Good Egg is proven to have damaged your printer, we will put it right. For more detailed information, read our full guide: Will Using Third-Party Ink Void My Printer Warranty?

    Printer Firmware Updates

It’s no secret that printer manufacturers make their real profits from selling expensive genuine cartridges. To protect those profits, they often release automatic firmware updates designed to block compatible inks and toners.

We believe you should have the right to choose what goes into the printer you own - just like choosing which brand of fuel you put in your car.

    How we handle it:

    • Rapid Response: Our manufacturers are experts at "re-chipping." As soon as an update is released, our cartridge chips are updated to ensure they stay compatible.
    • Our Guarantee: We only stock cartridges with the most up-to-date chips. If a firmware update ever causes an issue with a cartridge bought from us, we’ll provide a replacement - no dramas.

TIP: How to Protect Your Cartridges

The best way to ensure your cartridges keep working until they are actually empty is to disable Automatic Firmware Updates. If your printer receives an update while a compatible cartridge is installed, the manufacturer can "block" that cartridge instantly - even if it’s brand new.

    • Why do it? It prevents your printer from being "told" to stop recognising the cartridges you’ve already paid for. Turning off auto-updates keeps you in the driver’s seat.
    • What about security? We recommend turning Auto-Update OFF, then manually checking for updates every few months. That way, you decide when to update, rather than letting the manufacturer decide for you.
    • The "No Undo" Rule: Please note that disabling updates won't "fix" a cartridge that has already been blocked; it only protects you from future blocks.

How to turn off updates: Settings are usually found in the "Maintenance", "Setup", or "Service" menu on your printer’s screen. If you're stuck, just search online for your printer model + "how to turn off automatic updates" - it usually takes less than 30 seconds!
