Product Details: The HP LaserJet Pro 4001dw is a compact single-function mono printer that produces business-quality A4 mono prints at fast speed. With a recommended monthly print volume of 750-4,000 A4 pages (maximum 80,000), this printer is an ideal solution for small workgroups (of up to 10 people). It has a rapid printing speed of 40 pages per minute, automatic two-sided printing and output resolutions of up to 1200 x 1200 dpi.
The HP LaserJet Pro 4001dw supports various connection options: dual-band wireless, Bluetooth, USB 2.0 and Gigabit Ethernet. Smartphones and tablets can connect and print using Wi-Fi Direct, Apple AirPrint, Mopria, the HP Smart app, and HP ROAM For Business.
The printer ships with a 250-sheet input tray plus a 100-sheet multipurpose tray. You can increase paper capacity to 900 sheets if you choose to add an extra 550-sheet paper tray (D9P29A). It also comes with a pre-installed standard-yield HP 148A toner cartridge, with an estimated yield of 2,900 pages. When you need more toner, you have some choices to make.
Firstly, you can order the HP 148A or the higher-capacity HP 148X (print up to 9,500 pages). At the time of writing, there are no third-party compatible toners for this printer, but if you purchase the high-yield HP 148X, your cost per printed page is lower.
Secondly, because this printer is enabled for HP Instant Ink, you can sign up for HP’s ink and toner delivery service. Instant Ink has some benefits, not the least being convenience (your printer orders new toner and it is delivered directly to you, and quite probably before you knew you needed it). Your monthly Instant Ink fee starts at $1.99 but the amount you pay is based on the number of pages you print and not the amount of ink you use (even in Economode). For Instant Ink, you will need an HP account, will have to have an ongoing connection to the internet (your printer won’t work without it), and you commit to using genuine HP Ink cartridges for the lifetime of your printer. Instant Ink isn’t for everyone, but it can be a more economical choice, and you can cancel your subscription plan at any time.
Overall, the HP LaserJet Pro 4001dw is a reliable and cost-effective mono printer with all the features to suit small workgroups. As it is enabled to use HP’s Instant Ink subscription service, it may suit you if want the convenience of not having to worry about running out of toner.
