When you need a quality reliable, portable colour printer you can put in your car or carry in a backpack and take almost anywhere, the HP OfficeJet 200 is a good choice. It weighs just 2.2kg (2.1kg without the battery) and measures just W 364 x D 186 x H 69mm, but punches above its weight.

With high-yield ink cartridges delivering up to 600 pages (Black) and 415 pages (Colour), you get to print more pages per cartridge than expected for a mobile printer, and the cost per print is comparatively low. Print speed is also relatively fast at 10 pages per minute (mono) and 7 ppm (colour).

While this printer doesn’t do everything — you can’t scan, copy, or fax — if you just need quality prints while on the move, this could be the one. It’s less expensive than most portable All-in-One printers, and its low operating costs make it even more attractive.

What’s more, the OfficeJet 200 is blessed with a long battery life — you can print as many as 500 pages on a single charge. Plug it in and it’s fully recharged in 90 minutes, with HP Fast Charge.

The HP OfficeJet 200 Mobile uses HP 62 and HP 62XL black and tri-colour ink cartridges (and cheaper third-party compatible and remanufactured cartridges are also available). Suitable for low to moderate printing needs, the printer’s recommended duty cycle is 100-300 pages per month, with a maximum duty cycle of 500 pages per month.

If you want a portable that also lets you scan and copy you may prefer HP’s OfficeJet 250 Mobile. The OfficeJet 250 also includes an automatic document feeder (ADF) and a touchscreen display but is more expensive, heftier (3.6kg including the battery) and larger.

When to expect delivery:

Get your order fast! Place it before 2 pm Mon-Fri for same-day shipping from warehouses in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch (excluding public holidays). Typically deliveries to major New Zealand towns and cities take 1 to 2 days, while it may take a day or two longer for rural areas. Delivery of oversized printers that are too heavy for normal courier delivery is done by Mainfreight and may take a little longer on occasions. You’ll be notified when your order has been dispatched and provided with a tracking number so you can monitor the progress of your order.
