Product Details:
If you print a lot and rarely need to scan and copy, then the Canon MAXIFY GX3060 MegaTank All-in-One could be the printer for you. It will save you money over the long term and makes a good choice for home printing or for use in a small office. But it lacks an automatic document feeder (ADF) for multi-page copying and scanning, and if you need to send and receive faxes…forget about it.
Sure, you pay more upfront for the GX3060 but that’s always the case with ink tank printers — the savings come later when you top up the tanks. Not only are ink refills more eco-friendly, but they are comparatively inexpensive and they print many more pages than you typically get from an inkjet cartridge. And the next time you need to buy more ink could be a while away — Canon claims the GX3060 is capable of printing up to 6,000 pages in black, and up to 14,000 pages in colour before you run out of ink.
The Canon MAXIFY GX3060 MegaTank All-in-One Printer uses Canon GI66 inks which are pigment-based and fade-resistant, so your prints will last longer. Third-party compatible Canon GI66 ink refill bottles are also available, offering an even lower cost per page. While the Black GI66 refills are 162ml, and each Colour refill is 132ml, the ink included when you purchase the printer comes in a smaller “starter” size, with lower page yields than you will get from subsequent refills.
The GX3060 can deliver crisp and sharp prints with a maximum print resolution of up to 600 x 1200 dpi, at a speed of 18 images per minute (ipm) for monochrome printing and 13 ipm in colour. You can happily keep it running on a diet of plain paper and photo paper, but it will also print with heavier media like rigid paper and double-sided matte paper (up to 0.7mm). You can print up to A4 size, or banners up to 1.2m wide. Paper capacity is generous at 350 sheets.
All that said, you don’t get an ADF and there is no fax capability, and if that matters to you then you should be buying the Canon GX2060 or GX4060 instead. But if all you’re about is low-cost printing, then the GX3060 could be all the printer you need.
