Genuine, Compatible or Remanufactured Cartridges?

When it’s time to replace ink in your inkjet printer, you may have three options depending on your printer model.

Genuine (OEM) Cartridges
Made by the printer manufacturer to the exact specifications of your printer, these genuine cartridges deliver consistent, high-quality results and the best reliability.

Compatible Cartridges
Manufactured by reputable third-party brands, compatible ink cartridges are engineered to work seamlessly with your inkjet printer at a lower cost.

Remanufactured Cartridges

Refurbished OEM shells that have been cleaned, repaired and refilled with third-party ink. They’re an eco-friendly, cost-effective alternative to new genuine cartridges.

Which should you choose?

For business-critical printing, such as official documents or client reports, we recommend genuine ink for absolute peace of mind.

For everyday home use or when you’re watching the budget, compatible or remanufactured cartridges offer excellent value without compromising on print quality.

Will Using Compatibles Void My Warranty?

It's important to be aware that the warranty of your printer may be voided if non-genuine consumables have been used. For that reason, you might decide it's prudent not to use compatible products until after the warranty period of your printer expires.

When you use compatible products supplied by Good Egg you're protected. In the unlikely event they are proven to have damaged your printer, our suppliers will repair, or if necessary, replace it with an equivalent model of the same or better specifications up to the value of $1,000. See warranty details here.

Standard or High Yield?

Depending on your printer, cartridges may be available in both standard and high-yield versions.

Standard cartridges are cheaper, but they print less pages.

High-yield cartridges contain more ink, which means they can print more pages than standard-yield cartridges. While high-yield cartridges cost more up-front, they’re generally cheaper in the long run due to their higher page-yields. This makes them a more cost-effective option for users who do a lot of printing.

When choosing between standard and high-yield cartridges, it's important to consider your printing volume and budget. If you print frequently, a high-yield cartridge will be more cost-effective and convenient for you in the long run. However, if you print infrequently, a standard cartridge may be a better choice.

To help you chose the right cartridge, click on any of the cartridges listed above you'll see in-depth details including average page yield and the approximate cost to print 10 pages.

When to Replace Cartridges?

When you notice that a cartridge is running low on ink or has become empty, replace it promptly to avoid any printing issues or damage to your printer.

Before installing a replacement cartridge don't forget to ensure you remove any protective covers or seals from the new cartridge before installing.

How to Replace Ink Cartridges

If you’re not quite sure how to replace an ink cartridge in your inkjet printer, you’re definitely not alone. For most people, it’s something that only needs doing every now and then, so it’s easy to forget the exact steps.

The good news is that replacing ink cartridges is usually a quick and simple task - and we’re here to guide you through it. Whether it’s your first time changing cartridges or you just need a refresher, our step-by-step guide will help make the process easy and hassle-free. Cartridge Storage

If you’re not going to immediately use your replacement cartridges, make sure you store them in a cool and dry place. Avoid exposing ink cartridges to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures as these can damage the cartridge and affect print quality.

Cartridges come in sealed protective bags that help prevent dust and debris from entering the cartridge before it's installed in your printer. Keep these seals intact until you're ready to use the cartridge. If you have multiple cartridges stored for long periods of time, it's a good idea to ensure older cartridges are used first.

Want Additional Discounts?

If you’re planning a lot of printing, consider stocking up on cartridges. Buy two of the same cartridge model and get an extra 10% off your second one. Not only will you save even more money, you’ll also have a spare on hand so you can swap out and keep printing without delay.
